On June 24, 2024, The Water Agency, in collaboration with UN-Habitat Myanmar and Doh Eain, successfully hosted the “Empowering Youth for Innovative and Gender-Responsive Climate Actions regarding Water Security” event at the Wyndham Hotel in Yangon. As a key part of Myanmar Climate Action Week 2024, this hybrid event brought together experts, young leaders, and advocates to address crucial issues related to climate action and water security.
The event began with insightful presentations on gender and climate change, community-led climate actions, and youth-led climate initiatives, both globally and locally. These sessions provided a solid foundation for the panel discussion that followed, exploring innovative approaches to climate action and the roles of youth and gender equality. The final segment of the event featured a dynamic brainstorming workshop, where participants collaborated to develop solutions for water-related challenges.
Introducing Asia Raincraft
One of the event’s highlights was the introduction of the Asia Raincraft initiative. The Water Agency presented the purpose and concept of Asia Raincraft, which aims to empower youth and communities with essential knowledge and uses the Minecraft video game as a collaboration tool to tackle water challenges. The initiative features notable projects such as Yangon Raincraft, Bali Raincraft, and Cantho Raincraft. A video demonstration showcased the project’s impacts and how water-related knowledge is integrated into Minecraft gameplay. Watch the video below.
We are delighted to have introduced Asia Raincraft at this event and are excited about the potential to expand its activities in the future, fostering greater youth engagement and innovative solutions for water security in Myanmar.
