The Asia Water Academy website was officially launched on 16 March 2023, marking a significant step forward in water education for professionals and practitioners in the region. Alongside this launch, an online seminar titled “The Impact of Online Water Education on International Water Collaboration” was organized by The Water Agency and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The event aimed to explore the role of online education in facilitating international collaboration on water-related issues, and featured experts from across the globe.
The seminar started with the opening remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Science of Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam, Aletta Kraneveld. She emphasized the need for capacity building and knowledge sharing on the topics of water and the environment. Following this, Gregor van Essen from The Water Agency introduced the Asia Water Academy platform and highlighted the importance of an online education platform for young people for their future.
Simone van der Post, as the Deputy Ambassador for Netherlands Embassy to Myanmar also expressed her appreciation in Asia Water Academy Launching. She hopes that it could connect young professionals in Myanmar with the outside world by learning about water, climate, and environment.
It is an exciting start for Asia Water Academy to share knowledge on water and climate with all people across Asia!
