RBMA Block 4: Circular and Ecosystem-Based Planning
4.3 – Building with Nature in The Welang River Basin
Fluvial flood hazards are prevalent along the main rivers in downstream reach and in the (near) future potentially in the lower-midstream reach
Causes for downstream fluvial flood hazards include recent upstream land conversion, increased peak discharge in combination with reduced discharge capacity leads to significantly higher peak water levels in downstream reach (Kraton and Sidogiri) and may lead to fluvial flooding around Licin and potentially downstream of the Grinting weir, and Irrigation channels may contribute to fluvial flooding elsewhere (Lawang, Purwodadi, Purworedjo, and downstream of Grinting and Licin weirs)
