MEET THE MENTORS OF MEKONG SALT LAB YOUTH CHALLENGE 2024

Every challenge is easier with the right guidance, and that’s exactly what our mentors are here for!

The registration phase of the Mekong Salt Lab Youth Challenge 2024 is over, but the journey is just beginning! To support the top five teams in creating impactful solutions for salinity intrusion in the Mekong Delta, we’re proud to introduce our dedicated mentors – experienced professionals passionate about driving change.

These mentors will guide the teams in refining their ideas into practical solutions, providing expertise and encouragement as they prepare for the pitching session at the Mekong Salt Lab Forum 2024. Their support will not only enhance the solutions but also inspire the participants to grow as future leaders in sustainable development.

Explore their profiles below to see the impressive expertise they bring to the competition. We’re confident that their dedication will inspire you as much as they will inspire the teams they support.

  • Mentor Nguyen Cong Thuc: With over 15 years of experience in fisheries management, Mr. Thuc has contributed to the management, development, and protection of local aquatic resources. He has participated in numerous consulting programs, project development, and scientific research on aquaculture. He has also collaborated with various organizations and universities to promote for sustainable aquaculture models in the Mekong Delta.
  • Mentor Harry Pham Van Anh: Is an expert with over 12 years in developing social welfare projects, community development, and providing quality education support for students in rural Vietnam. Alongside his community activities, he has made significant contributions to higher education and designed experiential learning models in both Vietnam and internationally.
  • Mentor Nguyen Phuong Thuy: With over 12 years of experience in international education, Ms. Phuong Thuy is dedicated to providing accessible global education opportunities for students from developing countries. Throughout her career, she has been actively participated in and contributed to various international education initiatives, including study abroad programs for university and high school students, cultural exchange, peacebuilding, and international volunteer activities
  • Mentor Kelly Vo: Is the Founder & CEO of Dear Our Community, providing training programs and job opportunities in the social impact sector for young people in Vietnam. With over 13 years of experience in both corporate and non-profit sectors, Kelly has also participated in numerous international leadership programs and is recognized for her contributions to sustainable development.
  • Mentor Nguyen Hoang Lam: Mr. Hoang Lam has extensive experience in research and teaching in both Vietnam and South Korea in the fields of clean energy, nanomaterials, and photoelectrochemistry. He has published numerous articles in prestigious international journals, focusing on the reuse of agricultural by-products for clean fuel production, as well as the development of eco-friendly materials for pollution treatment applications.
  • Mentor Ly Trung Nguyen: In addition to teaching at Can Tho University, Mr. Trung Nguyen is leading numerous important research projects in collaboration with NGOs on salinity intrusion and mangrove restoration in the Mekong Delta. With a passion for addressing environmental challenges, he aims to enhance leadership in freshwater ecosystem management to promote sustainable water management practices in Vietnam.
