5.3 – Spatial Planning in Riparian Area I
Residential in riparian areas have the highest rate of environmental damage than in other vulnerable areas. Based on the regulation, building a residence in a riparian area is forbidden.
If there is a built residence in a riparian area, it needs to be handled in some way which is to relocate, redevelopment/renewal, and/or adjustment with the policy. The criteria for determining river’s bank width can be varied based on the functional purpose, disaster risk, and the area surrounding the river.
