Launch of Training Clusters

The tailor-made “WE are Water Education (Indonesia)” Program has achieved an exciting milestone in its partnership with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Water Agency, and East Java Province, Indonesia. On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the program celebrated the launch of its training clusters, making the materials exclusively accessible to participants through the Asia Water Academy platform. This initiative promotes continuous learning and collaboration among the various agencies involved in water management.

The launch event was opened by Fauzy Nasruddin from the Water Resource Agency of East Java (PUSDA), Adji Arnowo from the Human Resource Development Agency of East Java (BPSDM), and Hans de Moel from VU Amsterdam. Their leadership has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing full participation from attendees both in-person and online.

With 40 civil servant participants, the program aims to equip them with the skills to effectively utilize the Asia Water Academy platform and identify any potential issues in the online learning experience. Participants are encouraged to explore the platform, which provides hands-on experience in the room and includes a comprehensive guideline book as a key reference.

The enthusiasm among participants was evident as they eagerly engaged with the video lessons and completed the available quizzes. This high level of engagement assures us that future training activities in subsequent clusters will be successful and significantly impact the development of East Java Province.

Over the past few months, a diverse team of experts has diligently designed training materials tailored to the needs of East Java’s civil servants. The courses aim to enhance the capacity of local agencies to manage complex water-related issues, particularly in the context of climate change, while promoting inter-agency collaboration to address these challenges.

Through the collaborative efforts of international and local experts, the training program integrates a wealth of knowledge and best practices, advancing sustainable water management practices across East Java Province. Stay tuned for more updates and developments in this transformative journey.
